While this landmark barn was a working dairy farm until 1979, it is now home to one of the largest gift shops in Nova Scotia! Our staff is ready, willing & able to share information about our Island as well as help you find the perfect memento of your trip. The basic structure of the barn is still visible on the main floor (you’ll even still see antique milk cans & wooden barrels), but it is now filled with 60 designs of T-shirts, hoodies & jackets (for children & adults), an awesome selection of caps, glassware & nautical décor, 100 different lapel pin designs & an all-around, great selection of general giftware that will appeal to visitors and locals alike, including handbags, sundresses, scarves & jewellery. Also within the same building, you can visit the Loft, a full floor where we proudly offer an impressive selection of local, Maritime & Canadian artisan-made items ranging from pottery, Native Mi’kmaq products (such as moccasins, baskets & quill jewellery), silver, celtic, sea glass & Canadian Ice diamond jewellery, music & touring, CDs, Celtic heritage items & instruments, capes & shawls, tartan clothing for children & adults & a selection of handmade soaps & pampering products.

Country Cabin & Christmas Shop is right next door to the Red Barn. Some of the items offered are quilts, hand-knit sweaters, socks, baby sets, scented candles, country home and garden decor, art prints & Christmas décor. Bargain hunters will especially appreciate our ongoing clearance clothing rack.

Keep score in some friendly competition or just play for fun as you burn off some energy on our 18 hole mini golf course in plain view of the Red Barn Restaurant. Fun for all ages in a beautiful, serene setting located at the beginning of the Cabot Trail with the hills of the Highlands as your backdrop.

The Red Barn Restaurant is 52 seats (16 more on the screened patio!) each with a magnificent view through 45 feet of panoramic windows where the locals watch the seasons change over the Cape Breton Highlands. Serving up unpretentious home-cooking with just the right amount of sass from our friendly servers, we are fully licensed, featuring Nova Scotia wines, & your favorite cocktails. A fairly sizable menu includes full breakfast until 11:30 am, lunches & dinners, with standard fare, including lots of seafood & a few surprises. And you can finish your meal (or make it your whole focus!) with dessert, espresso, cappuccino or a latte. WiFi connected.
