The Bells of Baddeck – 2022 Commemorative Production

Dream what no one else dreams… From kites and flights to schools and libraries, Alexander Graham and Mabel Bell changed our world. THE BELLS OF BADDECK shares their story and the trials and tribulations that shaped their lives and work.

On August 2, 2022, THE BELLS OF BADDECK will open at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site which is located on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. With a newly created prologue and daring technical design, this live production features state-of-the-art immersive projection techniques and is performed by a fantastic cast.

What is Immersive Technique? Audiences are immersed in the show, rather than just being a spectator. Using history from the last century, paired with tech from this century, we are “immersing” you in some of the telematic techniques studied by Bell in his telephony and light transmission experiments for a unique musical and visual experience.

Hear English, Mi’kmaq, and Gaelic languages and Indigenous, Opera, Psalms, Spiritual, and Parlour singing, recreating the music heard and beloved by the Bells. Interpretation and surtitles will provide accessibility for hard-of-hearing patrons.

“A tour de force production… an exuberant musical tribute” OPERA CANADA

This production runs Tuesdays to Sundays from August 2 to August 20, 2022 (excluding Saturday, August 6). Visit https://bellsofbaddeck.com/ for more information and to get your tickets!
