Bird Island Boat Tours Since 1972, the Van Schaick family has owned and operated Bird Island Boat Tours, which today is the longest running boat tour business in Cape Breton. Each year, we offer daily boat tours from mid-May to late August to the Bird Islands, located off the coast of Cape Breton Island. Departing directly from our wharf on our property, participants on the boat tours may see an assortment of sea birds and sea life including Atlantic Puffins, Cormorants, Northern Gannets, Bald Eagles, seals, and more.
