When designing this national historic site, it was decided that creating a triangle-shaped building would reflect his scientific work. These architectural elements can be seen throughout the site.

The Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site is located in the Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere reserve and sits in the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq. Explore the world’s largest collection of this famous inventor’s mementos, photos, and models. During your visit you’ll learn how Bell invented a method of transmitting sound over light waves over 100 years ago, discover his record-breaking fascination with hydrofoils, and realize that the sky’s the limit when you see the full-size Silver Dart replica. Visit this site to discover and explore his inventions that helped shape our modern world.

This picturesque site also features several ornamental gardens and a new interpretive garden will be dedicated to Mabel’s contributions in 2022. Visitors can take home a part of this story with seeds from the museum gift shop, to plant their own garden of inspiration.
